In a significant gesture during the holy month of Ramadan, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin attended an Iftar Party organized by the State Minority Rights Division on Monday. He took the opportunity to reiterate the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam's (DMK) strong bond with the Muslim community, assured of the party's steadfast support for their rights.
Chief Minister Stalin, reflecting on the inclusive policies of the late former Chief Minister M Karunanidhi, stressed that the DMK government has a longstanding history of advocating for Muslim rights. He pointed out significant initiatives, such as reinstating Miladi Nabi as a public holiday after its removal during the AIADMK government.
The Tamil Nadu leader did not miss the chance to criticize the AIADMK's support for the contentious Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), which he argued undermines Muslim rights. Stalin questioned the integrity of AIADMK figures attending Muslim community events while supporting the CAA, a law viewed by many as discriminatory against Muslims.
"The essence of our administration has always been to provide unequivocal support to our Muslim brothers and sisters," Stalin declared. He further committed that the DMK would stand firmly against any policies that could threaten the rights of the Muslim community in Tamil Nadu.
