The Assam Assembly found itself at the center of controversy after Speaker Biswajit Daimary forwarded an application concerning a viral audio clip. The clip, allegedly featuring CPI(M) MLA Manoranjan Talukdar, involves a voice demanding money, purportedly linked to a betel nut syndicate.
The issue came to the forefront during Zero Hour when BJP MLA Manab Deka raised concerns over Talukdar, who had previously sought an adjournment motion related to the syndicate. Deka demanded that the Speaker take decisive action against Talukdar.
Responding to the allegations, Talukdar rebuffed the accusations, asserting that the audio clip was a fabrication utilizing artificial intelligence. He vowed to pursue legal action to prove his innocence, declaring that he would resign if his involvement were verified.
