In a fiery speech in the Lok Sabha, Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Mahua Moitra accused the government of skewing tax policies to benefit crony capitalists, to the detriment of small businesses and workers. Moitra claimed that the Centre's measures are crafted to cater to select corporate interests.

The MP highlighted a Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in Gonda, Jharkhand, where she alleged a businessman received undue benefits, with billions granted during the capital expenditure phase and significant tax reliefs. Moitra argued this is emblematic of a government bias that fails the broader economy.

Moitra further criticized the declining investment in health and accused the government of overinflating Maha Kumbh attendance figures, asserting that these actions are part of a pattern of mismanagement. She also raised alarms over issues like income tax distribution, surveillance, and the questionable handling of electoral processes.
