Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has reiterated his dedication to social service by aligning himself with former Shiv Sena leader Bal Thackeray's principle of '80 per cent social work and 20 per cent politics.'
His comments come following a unanimous resolution in the state assembly congratulating him for receiving the esteemed 'Adya Jagatguru Shri Sant Tukaram Maharaj Puraskar'. This development occurs amid a row involving stand-up comedian Kunal Kamra, whose remarks against Shinde have drawn demands for an apology from Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. The controversy also sparked vandalism by Shiv Sena workers at the venue where Kamra made his remarks.
Shinde emphasized the collective responsibility of the government and opposition to serve the public, dedicating his recent award to the people of Maharashtra. Despite the ongoing disputes, he remains focused on improving the lives of common citizens.
