Unrest in Turkey: Protests Erupt Over Istanbul Mayor's Detention
The detention of Istanbul Mayor Ekrem Imamoglu has ignited widespread protests in Turkey, leading to the arrest of over 1,100 individuals. Accused on corruption charges, Imamoglu denies the allegations. The arrest has sparked a national outcry, with supporters labeling it politically motivated, threatening Turkey's public order.

In a significant escalation of political unrest, Turkish authorities have detained 1,133 individuals across the nation following widespread protests over the detention of Istanbul Mayor Ekrem Imamoglu. The arrests come after a court decision last week led to massive demonstrations that continue to grow in scale and intensity.
Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya confirmed the detentions, reporting that peaceful, yet defiant, protests endured for a fifth straight night despite official bans. Injuries of 123 police officers have been reported, highlighting the growing unrest and dissatisfaction with the government's handling of the situation.
The Republican People's Party (CHP), led by Imamoglu, is at the forefront, condemning the arrest as politically charged. Turkish citizens are taking to the streets in large numbers, rejecting what they perceive as a miscarriage of justice against the popular mayor, challenging Turkey's current political landscape.
