Shiv Sena (UBT) MLA Aditya Thackeray has come to the defense of comedian Kunal Kamra amidst a growing controversy in Maharashtra following Kamra's remarks about Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. Thackeray challenged Shinde to clarify whether he is a 'traitor' or 'thief' before seeking an apology from Kamra.
Thackeray highlighted allegations of corruption, recalling how he had previously exposed details of the Mumbai roads scam. He insisted that the Eknath Shinde government was responsible for any financial embezzlement linked to roadworks, advocating for Shinde's removal and the establishment of an EOW-led investigation committee.
The uproar began after Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) supporters vandalized a Mumbai venue in response to Kamra's performance, where he allegedly slandered Shinde. Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis denounced Kamra's remarks, asserting they were unjustifiable under "freedom of speech" and accused Kamra of deliberate defamation. Uddhav Thackeray, leader of Shiv Sena (UBT), confirmed his support for Kamra's statements, describing them as truthful reflections of public sentiment.
