Maharashtra's Deputy Chief Minister, Eknath Shinde, reaffirmed his dedication to the principles of social work and politics championed by Shiv Sena founder Bal Thackeray. Speaking after the state assembly honored him with a resolution for receiving the 'Adya Jagatguru Shri Sant Tukaram Maharaj Puraskar' from the Warkari community, he pledged continued service to the common man.
Shinde's comments came amid a heated controversy sparked by comedian Kunal Kamra, who allegedly disparaged Shinde with the term 'traitor' in a performance. The stand-up performance led to a clash with Shiv Sena supporters, resulting in arrests and legal actions as tensions flared over Shinde's past political actions.
Despite the uproar, Shinde stressed unity, urging both government and opposition to work together. The resolution, moved by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Chandrakant Patil, highlighted Shinde's political journey. Meanwhile, calls for Kamra's apology continue, as police pursue legal proceedings against those involved in the unrest.
