In a heated response, Aditya Thackeray of Shiv Sena (UBT) condemned the threat issued by Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde) MP to stand-up comedian Kunal Kamra, drawing perilous comparisons to Taliban-style tactics. Kamra's recent comments during a Mumbai performance triggered significant unrest and sparked widespread debate.
Thackeray challenged the motives of Eknath Shinde's supporters, questioning their decision to label Kamra a 'traitor' and 'thief' without explicit names being mentioned. He urged Maharashtra's Chief Minister to curb such 'hooliganism' and address those undermining leadership, suggesting the attacks stem from within rather than from opposition ranks.
Criticizing the vandalism at the Habitat Comedy Club, Thackeray highlighted the use of threatening language by political figures, expressing concern over law and order. Calling for accountability, he defended Kamra's freedom to critique political figures without repercussions, while questioning the selective outrage shown by the state leadership.
