The Nagpur Municipal Corporation on Monday took decisive action against illegal constructions, demolishing structures at the homes of Yusuf Sheikh and Faheem Khan, both implicated in the recent Nagpur riots. This crackdown unfolds amid heightened tensions in the city following violent outbursts on March 17.

The demolition operation was sanctioned under Section 53(1) of the Maharashtra Regional and Town Planning Act, 1966, following a rigorous 24-hour notice period. 'After thorough investigation and adherence to procedure, we executed the order,' stated Sunil Gajbhiye, Deputy Engineer of the corporation, emphasizing the methodical approach behind the action.

Maharashtra has been on edge since the March 17 clashes, sparked by rumors of a holy 'chadar' being burned, which led to widespread stone-pelting and arson. In a recent press briefing, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis revealed that 92 individuals have been apprehended. Highlighting the misuse of social media, he confirmed damages would be recovered from those responsible.
