Maharashtra's political landscape is embroiled in a fresh controversy following comedian Kunal Kamra's recent special, which allegedly contained derogatory remarks against Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Nirupam has accused Matoshree, the residence of former Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, of funding the show, thereby targeting Shinde.

During a press conference, Nirupam suggested that the financial support from Uddhav Thackeray's residence Matoshree was the reason behind Kamra's controversial commentary. He further alleged that Kamra, linked closely to the 'Rahul Gandhi and Congress ecosystem,' displayed a photo with Sanjay Raut at a previous show, hinting political collusion.

Nirupam's comments were followed by strong words for Kamra, now residing in Gurgaon. The comedian was accused of abusing freedom of speech with his remarks. Meanwhile, an FIR has been registered against Kamra and the Shiv Sena's youth wing following the vandalism of the club where Kamra's performance took place.
