Union Minister Kiren Rijiju emphasized the severity of the statement and pressed the Leader of Opposition, Mallikarjun Kharge, for the Congress party's stance on this issue.
In response, Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge reaffirmed that the Constitution, formulated by Babasaheb Ambedkar, cannot be altered to accommodate such changes. He highlighted the Congress's Bharat Jodo Yatra as a commitment to safeguarding the Constitution against divisive measures.
Rijiju further escalated the issue, demanding Shivakumar's resignation. Meanwhile, Shivakumar explained his original statement was misinterpreted and vowed to challenge what he termed as misquotations, underscoring his longstanding political maturity and adherence to constitutional principles.
