In a significant political development, Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) Member of Parliament, Kanimozhi, revealed on Friday that there is broad support from various Chief Ministers and political leaders nationwide for the Joint Action Committee (JAC) meeting. This meeting is organized in response to the proposed delimitation of parliamentary constituencies.
Kanimozhi emphasized that the feedback received from state leaders was overwhelmingly positive, with Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin's leadership on this issue being particularly applauded. Delimitation based on population metrics is viewed as detrimental to numerous states, especially those in the southern and northeastern regions, thus garnering widespread opposition.
Furthering this coalition, DMK representatives have been actively visiting states, extending invitations to other regional leaders for a critical meeting on March 22 in Chennai. This gathering aims to rally against the central government's moves, which DMK leaders argue threaten the federal structure of the nation with their proposals, including the controversial three-language policy in education.
