Chaos on the Tracks: Baloch Gunmen Attack Pakistani Train
The Jaffar Express in Balochistan, Pakistan, was attacked by suspected Baloch gunmen, injuring several passengers. In a grave incident on Tuesday, the Jaffar Express, traveling from Quetta to Peshawar, was ambushed by armed men believed to be Baloch insurgents. The attackers claimed to have taken over 100 passengers hostage, sparking an intensive rescue operation by security forces.
The assault occurred in a tunnel between Gudalaar and Piru Koneri, injuring several passengers, including the train driver. Security forces responded swiftly, freeing 80 individuals, while 13 insurgents were reportedly killed in the ensuing gun battle, according to local authorities.
The Balochistan Liberation Army accepted responsibility for the attack, warning of dire consequences should military forces intervene. Meanwhile, authorities have heightened security measures and declared an emergency in local hospitals to address the emerging crisis.
