The language policies clash intensifies between Tamil Nadu's government and India's center, as Union Minister Piyush Goyal criticizes the DMK for allegedly politicizing language issues. Goyal, speaking in Lok Sabha, accused some of using language as a tool to divide the nation.

The minister's comments followed a speech by IUML MP Abdussamad Samadani, which included Hindi couplets. Goyal praised members proficient in Hindi, implying language should not determine one's stature. His words sparked protests from the opposition, highlighting the sensitivity of the issue.

Further emphasizing the cultural rift, CPI(M) member S Ventakesan from Tamil Nadu contended that 'India is not Hindia.' Tamil Nadu remains opposed to the central government's three-language policy under NEP, urging respect for mother tongues, stressing that the debate extends beyond politics into educational policy.
