In a significant move, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has announced the formation of a committee dedicated to addressing the issue of regularizing daily wagers. This committee, led by the Chief Secretary, aims to devise a framework within six months, raising hopes for long-term solutions.

During a legislative assembly session, CM Abdullah discussed historical challenges faced in addressing daily wagers, reflecting on previous unfulfilled promises and renewed commitment to resolving the crisis. He outlined a clear timeline for the committee's report, promising policy proposals in the next legislative assembly session.

Reacting to criticism from the opposition, the Chief Minister rejected claims of political pandering, emphasizing that the steps taken serve the interests of the people in Jammu and Kashmir. He also addressed national identity discussions, affirming the people's freedom to call the country by any of its recognized names—Bharat, India, or Hindustan.
