Congress leaders erupted in protest outside the residence of former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Monday, denouncing what they termed as politically motivated raids by the Enforcement Directorate (ED).
The ED launched the raids as part of an ongoing money laundering investigation involving Baghel's son, linked to a significant liquor scam. According to sources, around 14-15 premises were searched in the state, as the agency probes alleged proceeds of crime amounting to over Rs 2,100 crore.
In a statement, Baghel's office dismissed the raids as baseless, citing a recent court decision that discharged him from a separate case. Meanwhile, Congress workers accused the BJP-led central government of targeting their leadership with malicious intent.
