In a significant political move, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has nominated Somu Veerraju as its candidate for the upcoming MLC elections in Andhra Pradesh, scheduled for March 20.
The Election Commission had recently announced biennial elections for five MLCs, with members to be elected by the MLAs of Andhra Pradesh. BJP National General Secretary and Headquarters Incharge Arun Singh confirmed Somu Veerraju's candidature through an official press release, highlighting the party's strategies and choices for the council elections.
The decision marks the completion of the NDA alliance's candidate announcements for the elections, which include representatives from TDP, BJP, and Janasena. Meanwhile, the ruling YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) has opted not to contest, citing a lack of sufficient MLAs in the House to support a successful campaign.
