In an escalating political confrontation in the Delhi Assembly, Leader of Opposition Atishi accused the BJP of authoritarianism after 21 AAP legislators were suspended for protesting. The legislators had opposed the alleged removal of B R Ambedkar's portrait, further fueling tensions between the AAP and BJP.

Speaker Vijender Gupta ordered the suspension following disruptions during Lt Governor V K Saxena's address. The incident coincided with the tabling of a critical Comptroller and Auditor General report on the Delhi government's liquor policy, heightening the political conflict.

Atishi condemned the BJP's actions, stating they were aimed at erasing Ambedkar's legacy. Meanwhile, the AAP MLAs staged a demonstration holding up portraits of Ambedkar, accusing the BJP of trying to undermine his contributions to India's history.
