Key Tribal Elections Underway in Meghalaya's KHADC and JHADC
Polling is taking place for Meghalaya's KHADC and JHADC amidst tight security. Voting began at 7 am across 29 constituencies in each council, with over 13 lakh tribal voters deciding the outcome for 272 candidates. Security forces ensure a smooth election, with results expected on Monday.

Polling is underway in Meghalaya for the Khasi and Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Councils with stringent security measures, according to officials.
The election commenced at 7 am, involving 29 constituencies each in the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) and Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC).
A substantial 13 lakh tribal voters are expected to determine the political fate of 158 candidates in the KHADC elections and 114 candidates in the JHADC elections. To facilitate the process, there are 1,798 polling stations in the KHADC and 483 in the JHADC, with 129 and 95 identified as vulnerable and critical, respectively. Security forces have been adequately deployed to guarantee a free, fair, and smooth election. The vote counting is scheduled for Monday, with the councils' terms ending on March 5.
