The Adventures of Codrut: Moldova's Notorious Presidential Pup

Codrut, the three-legged dog belonging to Moldovan President Maia Sandu, went missing during New Year's fireworks but was safely returned home. Previously known for biting the Austrian president, Codrut's adventures echo similar tales in the U.S. where President Biden's dogs also experienced biting issues.

Codrut, the golden-haired, three-legged canine companion of Moldovan President Maia Sandu, captured the spotlight after a brief disappearance on New Year's Eve. The dog, famous for nipping Austrian President Alexander Van der Bellen last November, fled during a fireworks display, leading to a social media-fueled search by Capital residents.

Reports surfaced of several sightings of Codrut, whose name means 'small forest' in Romanian, on various social media platforms. His safe return to the official residence hours later was confirmed by presidential press secretary Igor Zaharov, who announced the end of Codrut's adventurous episode to the relief of many followers.

This isn't the first time a presidential pet has caused a stir. Across the Atlantic, U.S. President Joe Biden faced similar challenges with his German Shepherds, both of whom were eventually moved from the White House due to their biting tendencies.
