The launch of the 'Pujari Granthi Samman Yojna' by AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal has escalated into an intense political confrontation. Kejriwal launched the registration process at a Kashmiri Gate temple, shifting the venue from Connaught Place due to protests from local priests over the delay in the honorarium announcement.
The AAP's scheme offers a monthly Rs 18,000 honorarium for temple priests and gurudwara granthis if they return to power in Delhi. However, BJP slammed Kejriwal, terming him a 'Chunavi Hindu' and accusing him of disrespecting Hinduism, leveling charges of political opportunism ahead of elections.
Despite the political tension, Kejriwal proceeded to launch the registration in other locations, emphasizing his commitment to the scheme. Amidst protests, AAP counters that the BJP, ruling in multiple states, has failed to implement such initiatives, highlighting the ongoing political battle over religious support in the capital.
