In a dramatic turn of events, Maharashtra minister Dhananjay Munde's close aide, Walmik Karad, surrendered to police in Pune on Tuesday, following intense pressure from ongoing protests and political debates. Karad is wanted in an extortion case related to the murder of a village sarpanch, Santosh Deshmukh, in Beed district.

Karad, who had released a video denying accusations and attributing them to political vendetta, was named a suspect after contentious allegations surfaced. While four others were arrested earlier, Karad's involvement has raised suspicions among the opposition, who question Munde's relationship with him.

Opposition parties continue to demand a transparent investigation as Karad's surrender ignites further discourse. Vaibhavi Deshmukh, the daughter of the murdered sarpanch, expressed her frustration over the delayed arrest and urged authorities to delve deeper into the connections among the accused.
