A major prisoner exchange between Russia and Ukraine has resulted in the release of hundreds of captives, facilitated by the United Arab Emirates, officials confirmed on Monday.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that 189 Ukrainian prisoners, including military staff, were freed. He expressed gratitude to the UAE for its mediating role in the exchange.
Russia reciprocated by releasing 150 of its soldiers, although the discrepancy in numbers remains unexplained. This development takes place as the United States commits nearly USD 2.5 billion more in weaponry to Ukraine.
