In a strategic political move, NCP-SP chief Sharad Pawar met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday. This meeting comes in the wake of the Maha Vikas Aghadi's (MVA) significant defeat in Maharashtra's assembly elections at the hands of the BJP-led Mahayuti.
Pawar, accompanied by two farmers, presented Modi with a box of pomegranates from western Maharashtra's Phaltan. Although Pawar had earlier invited the prime minister to inaugurate the upcoming Marathi Sahitya Sammelan, the subject was notably absent from their discussions, as confirmed by Pawar.
The meeting was highlighted by the Prime Minister's Office in a social media post, featuring images of Pawar presenting pomegranates to Modi. Despite the political upheaval, the BJP-Shiv Sena-NCP's Mahayuti dominated the election with 235 seats, relegating the MVA to just 46 out of 288 in the assembly.
