Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) leader and Member of Legislative Council (MLC) K Kavitha launched a scathing attack on the Telangana government on Wednesday, accusing them of misinformation regarding the Musi River beautification project. Kavitha questioned the secrecy surrounding the project and its funding, challenging the Congress-led government.
The BRS leader criticized Chief Minister Revanth Reddy's administration, alleging they attempted to secure a Rs 4,100 crore World Bank loan under the guise of the Musi Riverfront Development Project. Kavitha accused the government of portraying it as a rejuvenation effort in public forums, while prioritizing commercial over ecological interests.
According to Kavitha, the primary goal of the project is to relocate over 16,000 families along the Musi River, making room for commercial ventures such as malls and real estate projects. She condemned the government as one thriving on lies and hypocrisy.
Kavitha contrasted the situation with BRS's 10-year rule, during which they refrained from seeking World Bank loans, safeguarding the state's pride and resources. She questioned whether the Congress government serves the people's interests or those of real estate developers.
The BRS leader warned the Telangana government of filing a privilege motion in the Assembly if the Detailed Project Report (DPR) and funding specifics remain undisclosed. Kavitha demanded clarity on the alleged contradictory statements made to various entities.
Vowing to resist the displacement of families without fair compensation, Kavitha accused the Congress government of betraying the trust of Telangana's citizens. She denounced the Musi River beautification project as deception rather than development, pledging to prevent the mortgage of Hyderabad's future.
