The Congress party launched a fresh attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, questioning why Mumbai is being sidelined in favor of Gujarat for big-ticket projects. The criticism comes ahead of Modi's election engagements in Mumbai, with Congress highlighting the perceived injustices faced by the metropolis.
Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh posed several tough questions, notably accusing the BJP of orchestrating a land grab in Dharavi to benefit the Adani Group. He argued that local residents were being systematically excluded from the redevelopment process.
Ramesh further alleged that the government's delays in Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation elections show a fear of losing power, and questioned the neglect of Mumbai's public infrastructure, urging the Prime Minister to address issues including air pollution and overcrowded local trains.
