Sharad Pawar, the chief of the Nationalist Congress Party (Socialist), has sharply criticized the current governance in Maharashtra, stating the state is suffering a significant decline due to mismanagement. Pawar made these remarks while campaigning for party candidate Rahul Kalate in the Chinchwad assembly constituency of Pune district.

Addressing a public gathering and leading a roadshow, Pawar emphasized the need for change, labeling the last decade's leadership as ineffective in completing development projects. Situated near Pune, the area is known as an auto hub yet lacks basic infrastructure, according to Pawar.

In a bid to unseat the BJP, which swapped its candidate from Ashwini to Shankar Jagtap, Pawar highlighted Kalate's political experience as a former corporator. The upcoming November 20 elections are set to be a crucial battle following the 2019 state polls where Kalate was defeated by over 38,000 votes.
