Kerala Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) SP President PC Chacko has strongly condemned Ajit Pawar's faction, accusing them of betrayal by using Sharad Pawar's photograph during election campaigns. According to Chacko, this reflects the enduring popularity of Sharad Pawar, despite being seen as a political adversary, in Maharashtra's political landscape.
Chacko further criticized Ajit Pawar's NCP for its desperation, underscoring that the party's reliance on Sharad Pawar's image hints at their declining influence compared to NCP-SP's rising strength. He cautioned that failing to adhere to the Supreme Court's directives on the issue could have serious repercussions.
The Supreme Court has mandated Ajit Pawar's faction to abstain from using Sharad Pawar's imagery, emphasizing that elections should be contested on individual merits. Justices Surya Kant and Ujjal Bhuyan maintained that voters are perceptive enough to discern political duplicity.
