Controversy surrounds the Congress party in Jharkhand as it released its manifesto for the assembly elections allegedly in violation of the model code of conduct. Chief Electoral Officer K Ravi Kumar confirmed a report has been submitted to the Election Commission regarding this breach.
The manifesto, unveiled the day before the first phase of polling, promises 250 units of free electricity, a caste-based census, and the filling of vacant government positions within a year. In response, the state BJP lodged a complaint with the EC, seeking sanctions against Congress and JMM for breaching the silent period.
Despite these allegations, Congress spokesman Rakesh Sinha maintains that no election norms were violated. Meanwhile, the ruling JMM also released its manifesto, pledging 33 percent reservation for women in public sector jobs, further prompting investigations.
