Days before the pivotal G20 Summit in Rio de Janeiro, India expressed confidence in Brazil's ability to produce a consolidated leaders' declaration, despite the ongoing conflicts in Ukraine and West Asia. With key global leaders, including India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi, China's President Xi Jinping, and the U.S. President Joe Biden, set to attend, there is a spotlight on Brazil's presidency and its ability to bridge divides among member nations.

Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, during a media briefing, highlighted the significance of this year's Summit. It marks the first instance of the African Union participating as a full member, symbolizing a significant milestone in global representation. Last year, under India's G20 presidency, the inclusion of the 55-nation African Union was seen as a major achievement amid deep divisions over the Ukraine conflict.

This year, Brazil is focusing on building a just world through social inclusion, combating hunger and poverty, promoting sustainable development, and reforming global governance institutions. Despite ongoing geopolitical complexities, there is optimism that negotiations will yield a comprehensive consensus document at the Summit.
