In a significant political event, the Vijaypur and Budhni assembly constituencies in Madhya Pradesh experienced high voter turnouts, standing at 75.27 per cent and 72.37 per cent, respectively, as recorded by 5 PM. The peaceful voting process throughout both regions has drawn attention as crucial contenders step forward in the bypolls.
The polling commenced at 7 am with Madhya Pradesh's Chief Electoral Officer, Sukhveer Singh, confirming a smooth process across all booths. Voting continued until 6 pm, with notable figures like Union Agriculture Minister and former Budhni MLA Shivraj Singh Chouhan casting their votes.
Chouhan's election to the Lok Sabha left the Budhni seat vacant, setting up an electoral contest against Congress candidate Rajkumar Patel. Meanwhile, the bypoll in Vijaypur was necessitated by Congress MLA Ramniwas Rawat's shift to the BJP. A total of 2,760 poll officials ensured the smooth conduct of these high-stakes elections, backed by a robust security arrangement.
