As Rajasthan gears up for by-elections on seven crucial assembly seats, the stakes are high for both the BJP and Congress. These elections present a critical test for these major parties, along with the Rashtriya Loktantrik Party (RLP) and Bharat Adivasi Party (BAP), amid efforts to recover from a disappointing performance in the recent Lok Sabha polls.
A total of 69 candidates, including 10 women, are in the fray across Jhunjhunu, Dausa, Deoli-Uniara, Khinvsar, Chorasi, Salumber, and Ramgarh. The political contests are particularly intense in Jat-dominated regions and tribal seats, where voter turnout and strategic alliances could prove decisive.
The by-elections, which will see over 9,000 security personnel ensuring robust law and order arrangements, are being watched closely as a possible resurgence opportunity for Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma and BJP state president Madanlal Rathore following the party's previous losses.
