Ebrard's Warning on US-Mexico Tariff Battle
Mexico's Economy Minister Marcelo Ebrard has suggested imposing retaliatory tariffs on U.S. imports if the Trump administration introduces tariffs on Mexican exports. Ebrard emphasized this could negatively impact the North American economy, highlighting the inflationary risk for the U.S. due to a potential trade war.

Mexico's Economy Minister, Marcelo Ebrard, suggested on Monday that Mexico might impose retaliatory tariffs on U.S. imports should the Trump administration decide to levy tariffs on Mexican exports. This statement came during an interview with Radio Formula.
Ebrard, who was Mexico's foreign minister during a previous tariff situation, expressed that any decision to place a 25% tariff on Mexican goods would necessitate a similar response, highlighting earlier tensions when Trump sought concessions on immigration enforcement.
Ebrard warned that applying tariffs would introduce significant economic costs to the North American economy, including potentially heightened inflation in the U.S., which he believes serves as a crucial deterrent to such trade conflicts.
