FEMA Employee Fired Over Political Bias Amid Disaster Relief Efforts
The U.S. Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) fired a worker for advising her team in Florida to avoid homes with pro-Trump yard signs. The decision came after it was deemed a violation of FEMA's principles. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis announced a state investigation into the matter.
An employee from the U.S. Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) was dismissed for instructing her team to avoid homes with yard signs supporting President-elect Donald Trump. This action was seen as a direct violation of FEMA's commitment to impartial assistance, according to administrator Deanne Criswell.
FEMA administrator Deanne Criswell emphasized on social media platform X that the agency's core values dictate providing aid irrespective of political beliefs. Following the incident, the matter has been escalated to the Office of Special Counsel, as confirmed by Criswell.
In response, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis announced a state-level investigation into the situation. Despite not specifying the incident's timing, the focus on FEMA remains strong as it recently assisted in the aftermath of Hurricane Milton while combating a disinformation campaign.
