The Congress party has accused the BJP of running a 'hate campaign' in Jharkhand, claiming it has backfired after an FIR was lodged against the BJP's state unit for alleged poll code violations. The FIR came after misleading videos were posted on social media.
Sources disclosed that Ranchi's cybercrime police have contacted the social media platform to remove the contentious content, following Section 69(A) of the IT Act. The action follows complaints from Congress leader Jairam Ramesh, who reported the videos to the Election Commission on Sunday.
The controversial videos allegedly misrepresented opposition figures like Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, while Congress accused them of distorting voter opinions. The aftermath may affect voter sentiment in the already heated Jharkhand assembly elections set for two phases in November.
