Trump's 'Border Czar' Homan to Lead Aggressive Deportation Effort

Tom Homan, recently announced as President-elect Donald Trump's 'border czar', has revealed plans to focus on deporting illegal immigrants in the United States who pose safety and national security risks or are found working unlawfully. This comes as Trump prepares to take office in January, reaffirming his campaign commitment to crack down on illegal immigration.

The ambitious deportation strategy, backed by Vice President-elect JD Vance, aims to remove up to a million undocumented immigrants annually. Critics, however, caution about the high costs, divisiveness, and potential for family separations. Homan, a key Trump ally from the former administration, insists that those ordered to leave after failed asylum claims must comply.

While cooperation from local law enforcement is preferred, Homan warned that he might deploy additional ICE forces if sanctuary jurisdictions resist. Reports also indicate that Trump immigration adviser Stephen Miller could assume a significant role in shaping policy. The decision on the head of the Department of Homeland Security remains pending, with Chad Wolf and Mark Green among suggested names.
