Two branches of Qatar's royal family are embroiled in a legal battle at London's High Court over the 'Idol's Eye' diamond. Sheikh Hamad bin Abdullah Al Thani seeks to enforce a purchase agreement, opposed by Sheikh Saud bin Mohammed Al Thani's relatives who quantify the gem's worth differently.

The 'Idol's Eye' diamond, a gem of immense value, is at the center of a legal conflict between Qatar's royal family members in London. The battle is between Sheikh Hamad bin Abdullah Al Thani and the family of Sheikh Saud bin Mohammed Al Thani, Qatar's former culture minister.
The dispute stems from a 2020 agreement wherein a company run by Sheikh Hamad attempted to assert its right to purchase the diamond from Elanus Holdings, tied to Sheikh Saud's family. The family values the diamond at $27 million, contrasting with the $10 million sale price listed in the questioned agreement.
Elanus Holdings claims the sale agreement was mistakenly sent, without consulting all family beneficiaries, indicating unwillingness to sell the diamond at the disputed price. The case awaits resolution in London's High Court.
