The Congress party has raised alarms with the Election Commission over eight communal complaints concerning the BJP's conduct during the assembly elections in Jharkhand and Maharashtra. The Congress accuses the BJP of creating divisive narratives through social media posts, portraying minority appeasement at the expense of Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, and Other Backward Caste communities.
Led by Congress MP Sasikanth Senthil, the delegation emphasized the validity of their grievances as confirmed by the poll body. A notable concern is an image shared by the BJP, allegedly showing Congress leader Rahul Gandhi ousting SC, ST, and OBC members to make space for a minority community member, deemed an attempt to manipulate public sentiment.
The electoral body has also been urged to take immediate action, including removing inflammatory content from social media and addressing purported police biases during the campaign period. With elections upcoming, the Congress is advocating for fair conduct and enhanced security measures to ensure unobstructed voting in affected constituencies.
