France's foreign minister has urged Ukraine's allies not to make assumptions about President Donald Trump's approach to the ongoing war, following concerns in European capitals after his recent election victory. French President Emmanuel Macron and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer reiterated their support for Ukraine during discussions in Paris.
Trump's criticism of the West's aid to Kyiv, along with his unelaborated promise to resolve the crisis swiftly, has sparked questions about future US commitment. "We should avoid prejudging the new US administration's positions," stated French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot at the Paris Peace Forum, emphasizing the need for time to understand Trump’s plans.
Meanwhile, France's defense minister announced the dispatch of new long-range missiles to Ukraine, while Finland's Foreign Minister, Elina Valtonen, highlighted the broader threat posed by Russia. Despite Kremlin denials, reports suggest Trump advised President Putin against escalating the Ukraine conflict.
