In a striking political development, suspended Congress leader Rajendra Mulak has announced his intention to contest the upcoming assembly election from the Ramtek constituency as an independent candidate. Mulak proclaimed himself as the de facto candidate of the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) coalition, which includes the Congress, NCP, and Shiv Sena UBT.
Addressing his supporters, Mulak declared his allegiance with the MVA, confidently stating the backing of the Congress Party and its allies. "I am the Maha Vikas Aghadi candidate," he asserted, emphasizing his belief in an impending electoral victory by a significant margin, backed by the entire Congress Party.
This declaration coincides with the Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee's intensified efforts to curb party dissidents, preceding the assembly elections set for November 20. Recently, several renegade Congress members were suspended for defying party lines, raising the number of suspensions to 28 across 22 constituencies. The election results are slated to be announced on November 23.
