The Election Commission of India has categorically rejected allegations made by the Trinamool Congress (TMC) concerning delays in responding to their complaints about the West Bengal bypolls. Officials assert that they took action on the grievances within 20 hours of receipt, labeling the accusations as unfounded.
In response to TMC leader Derek O'Brien, the Commission expressed surprise over the party's criticism, emphasizing that swift measures were taken right after receiving the complaints and inviting TMC to participate in a meeting to discuss election issues further.
The EC detailed that a delegation from TMC had submitted two representations, to which immediate responses were taken, including directives to the CEO of West Bengal regarding force deployment and issuing a notice on a separate speech-related matter.
