Noticeable scrutiny over election expenses has fallen upon key political figures in Beed district, including NCP(SP) candidate Mahebub Shaikh and BJP MLC Suresh Dhas. This development comes as part of an official probe into candidate spending for the Ashti seat.
In total, 17 candidates are under review, and on November 8, authorities convened to examine the financial transparency of campaign expenditures. Following this, certain candidates, such as Shaikh and Bahujan Samaj Party's Pradip Chavhan, were called upon to clarify their accounts.
Additionally, notices were issued to other candidates, including Dhas, Balasaheb Ajbe, and Bhimrao Dhonde, as per section 77 of The Representation of the People Act, enforcing stringent financial accountability in electoral procedures.
