Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Sunday sharply criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi's recent comments about the 'Laal Kitab,' highlighting that Modi had previously presented the same book to the then-President Ram Nath Kovind in 2017. Kharge asserted that the Prime Minister's narrative was inconsistent and misleading.
Kharge's criticism came during the launch of the joint manifesto of the Maharashtra Assembly Elections. He referred to Modi's earlier remarks that disparaged the Congress's use of the 'Laal Kitab' of the Constitution, alleging it to be empty and emblematic of Congress's disregard for Dr. B.R. Ambedkar's legacy.
Reaffirming the document's importance, Kharge urged sending a copy to the Prime Minister, affirming, 'Sahab, everything is written in it.' The controversy has sparked widespread debate across the country over the integrity and respect for constitutional documents in political discourse.
