In a fierce denunciation of contemporary political rhetoric, Congress leader Ashok Gehlot condemned Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's recent remarks as divisive, marking them as unfortunate for the nation. Gehlot voiced his concern during the launch of the MVA's manifesto, highlighting the dangerous precedent such language sets post-independence.
Gehlot's criticism comes amid Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge's indictment of the BJP for promoting divisive slogans, particularly the 'batenge to katenge' mantra. Kharge accused the party of using inflammatory slogans to distract the electorate in regions like Jharkhand and Maharashtra, heightening tensions among communities.
Defending the contentious remarks, BJP leader Kirit Somaiya cited increasing numbers of Rohingya and Bangladeshi migrants in Mumbai as justification. He argued that statements made by PM Narendra Modi and CM Adityanath underline a necessary vigilance, asserting it's vital for maintaining community safety ahead of the Maharashtra assembly elections.
