The Himachal Pradesh government has issued a directive requiring prior approval for the release of Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu's photographs. The order mandates that no department or government agency can release the CM's pictures without clearance from the Director of Information and Public Relations.
This move comes in the wake of reports indicating that images of the Chief Minister have been issued to the media without authorization. The government expressed concerns that improper gestures captured in such photographs could damage the public image of CM Sukhu.
In a letter addressed to secretaries and departmental heads, the Director of Information and Public Relations emphasized that unregulated photo dissemination could have damaging long-term impacts on the perception of both the Chief Minister and the state government.
