The Karnataka Health Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao announced that the Justice Michael D' Cunha Commission's inquiry into alleged procurement fraud during the COVID-19 pandemic has recommended prosecutions for former Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa and former minister B Sriramulu.
The report revealed significant discrepancies, citing a Rs 14 crore loss in PPE kit procurement, supposedly sourced from China against standard rules. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah confirmed that further actions will be deliberated post-by-polls by a special cabinet sub-committee.
The allegations premise on Congress claims of the BJP's malpractice during their tenure. Despite denial from the accused, the inquiry's revelations could present substantial accountability challenges for the previous administration.
