Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman questioned the belief that patriarchy hinders women's achievements in India, using Indira Gandhi's political success as a counterpoint. During a discussion with students at CMS Business School, she addressed measures such as government schemes and internship programs targeting young individuals.
Sitharaman argued that the concept of patriarchy is a creation of leftist ideology. She advised women to pursue their dreams with logic and determination, acknowledging, however, that better facilitation for women is essential.
Highlighting the Modi government's efforts, Sitharaman described the creation of an innovative-friendly environment, citing support mechanisms for MSMEs and the expansion of digital banking as key achievements. She underscored the importance of continuous technological advancement to ensure inclusivity and future growth.
