Chalavadi Narayanaswamy, Opposition leader in the Karnataka Legislative Council, issued a stern warning to the Congress government, emphasizing that public unrest could ensue if their electoral promises, particularly the Shakti scheme, are unfulfilled.
The Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) stance comes amid Congress's vow to offer free bus services for women in Karnataka. Concerns over future fiscal strain were echoed by Congress National President Mallikarjun Kharge, who advised prudence in aligning promises with the party's budget. Kharge underscored that poorly planned guarantees could tarnish the party's reputation and burden subsequent generations with financial woes.
Kharge mentioned his counsel in Maharashtra, warning against excessive promises without financial backing. Meanwhile, Karnataka Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy dismissed concerns over any review of the Shakti scheme, asserting its continuation, as Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar declared the state's model a national example, proudly adopted by other parties.
