The Congress party has taken a firm stance against the BJP's persistent emphasis on infiltration as a poll issue in the fiercely contested Jharkhand elections. According to Congress leader Alok Sharma, the INDIA bloc, led by Hemant Soren, is poised to maintain power with a decisive majority despite the BJP's negative campaigning tactics.
Sharma further emphasized that the electorate is disenchanted with the BJP's strategy of sowing division. He also dismissed any notion of discord within the INDIA bloc, despite the RJD's expressed concerns over seat-sharing arrangements. The Congress contends that the central government bears the responsibility for addressing infiltration, a topic raised by the BJP.
Addressing allegations of previous inaction, Sharma underscored the steps taken by past Congress-led UPA governments to combat illegal immigration, such as border fencing, contrasting this with supposed inaction from the current administration. He accused the BJP of employing tactics to divide society and manipulate caste and creed for political gain. The elections are set to take place in two phases on November 13 and 20, with results due on November 23.
