The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has announced plans to stage a protest by 'gheraoing' the Punjab BJP office, highlighting their discontent with the slow pace of paddy lifting in the region. This move, according to AAP's senior leader Aman Arora, is a direct response to the Centre's alleged retaliation against Punjab's farmers following the repeal of farm laws.
Arora claims the deliberate deceleration of the lifting process is intended to create hardships for both farmers and commission agents. He expressed disappointment with the BJP-led Centre's failure to clear foodgrain stocks from Punjab, stressing the urgent need for warehouse space to store fresh crop supplies.
In a rallying call to the people of Punjab, Arora urged mass participation in Wednesday's protest to deliver a powerful message to the central government. The dispute escalated after Punjab rice millers refused to mill paddy due to concerns over out-turn ratios of certain rice varieties, urging the immediate evacuation of wheat and rice stock to free up storage.
